Contemplative Practice

You’ve heard meditation helps. Maybe you’ve tried it. Maybe it felt like one more thing you weren’t doing right.

What I offer is different.

Contemplative Practices include sitting meditations, dharma talks, mindful yoga, and study groups. Choose the one that meets your needs. Allow yourself to gradually open to something deeper. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone with an existing practice looking to go further, you’ll find a space that is rigorous, warm, and genuinely transformative.

We begin with the fundamentals: how to sit, how to breathe, how to develop a gentle and curious attention toward your own inner experience. Through mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation — metta — you learn to recognize the habitual patterns that shape your reactions and choices, and to meet yourself with greater kindness in the process.

But the destination is not simply calm. Calm is the doorway.

Through dharma teachings rooted in the Karma Kagyu lineage and other awakening traditions, we explore the exquisite balance between effort and ease, investigation and stillness, energy and equanimity. In study groups, we read, discuss, and contemplate together — bringing the wisdom of master teachers into direct contact with our own lived experience.

Over time, something shifts. You develop the capacity to be with difficult emotions rather than flee from them. You get comfortable with what’s been hiding underneath the noise. This is where practice becomes a path — not away from your life, but more deeply into it.
